March 10, 2023. Dear Parents and Guardians, each year, the South Carolina Department of Education provides survey for parents/guardians to complete. This survey consists of questions that provide opportunities for school improvement. However, that is not the survey's only purpose. In 2018, The SC Dept. of education changed calculations for each school's report card. the answers you provide on the survey impact BHS's report card in two areas. The most obvious area is inclusion of data that shows the number of surveys returned and the satisfaction percentage in three areas. In addition, the school's report card includes a numerical calculation similar to what a student receives in a class. Based on that number, a school receives an Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average, or Unsatisfactory rating. Your response to the survey, in addition to the responses of your student on a similar survey, will account for up to 10 points on the BHS report card. On the last reported survey, 80% of parents/ guardians reported satisfaction with the learning environment. As part of our growth plan, BHS aims to increase the percent of parents satisfied with the learning environment from 80% to 95% by the end of the 2024-2025 school year. Your participation in this survey can help us reach out growth goals and provide feedback for continued school improvement. Without you and your dedication to your student, our school, and our community, we could never be successful. Never underestimate the admiration that the faculty and staff of BHS has for you. Your participation in the survey is humbly appreciated. Sincerely, Michael Mullinax BHS principal.
Student athlete of the Month, Emma Patterson. "Emma works exceptionally hard in her role as the captain of the cheerleading squad. She never misses a practice or game and is always willing to do anything that is needed for the team. Emma will be missed as a Wildcat, but we look forward to seeing what her future holds." Cheer Coach Whitney Black. Sponsored by Patterson's Wrecking Service

Please share!! These Gaffney and Blacksburg High school students make my job easy. I don't think they understand how important they are. Peer influence is such a big deal to today's teenagers. These pictures are from the RADA roundtables we participate in every year at local middle schools. These high school students are rockstars to middle school students and their voices need to be heard. I wish we had an army of high school students who RADA. Shout out and a huge thank you to my buddy David Toney for creating this group in 2016, we're still going strong making legends! All of the RADA members are not in these photos due to class schedules and other events. I thank them all for being a part of RADA, it's truly a lifestyle! Gaffney High School Blacksburg High School
