New year updated tardy rules. Beginning January 4, 2024, CCSD will combine tardy to school and tardy to class offenses. No parent notes will be accepted for tardy to school. Doctor notes are excluded from tardies. Students will be given a warning at tardy number three and at tardy numbe six; but on the seventh tardy, students will be given a day of OSS. This will continue with each tardy after that, until the next nine weeks resets on March 13th. This change in discipline should benefit all students an streamline the process. Students are getting more forgiveness with this change than in the past; however for those who exceed the tardy limit the discipline is a direct penalty.
Our Right-of-Way Maintenance crew visited Blacksburg High School this morning to plant crepe myrtle trees on their campus. As part of our Tree Line USA designation, BPW plants trees at various locations in our community throughout the year. Once they bloom, these trees will enhance the landscape inside the BHS football stadium. Special thanks to BHS Principal Michael Mullinax and Assistant Principal Will Coggins for letting us visit!
